The Power of a Uniform

Uniforms are the symbol of uniformity for school children, companies, the military, boy scouts and the list goes on. There is a sense of pride when wearing certain uniforms, that’s why we wear our favorite team’s jersey on the night of the big game.

Historian believe that the first uniforms were worn 2,000 years ago and were used by people to identify which group or tribe they belonged to. Some uniforms were believed to have magical powers and were used to strike fear into the heart of the opposition – sound familiar? It’s a theory still used by sports teams to this day!

Some of the most decorated athletes of our time still felt that certain uniforms carried magical powers. The greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, wore his University of North Carolina shorts under his Chicago Bulls uniform for every game of his pro career for good luck. He went on to win six championships, so maybe there was something to his theory!

Take Service Uniform Out to the Ballgame!

We at Service Uniform had a blast with our clients and friends out at the Colorado Rockies game on September 4! We enjoyed a picnic before the game and were able to see the Rockies win, while surrounded by great company.

With the storm clouds holding back and only a few minor rain drops, it turned out to be a beautiful evening at Coors Field. We arrived to watch our home team take on the San Francisco Giants. Chip, our beloved mascot was with us and was able to meet and talk to so many of our customers! Thank you to all who stopped and said hello! Chip was especially happy to get to meet Dinger, the Rockies mascot!

Although it was a low scoring game, we still were able to take in all the excitement! The Rockies were victorious with two runs from Arenado and a homerun from Gonzalez. The Giants only scored once, making the final score 2-1.

The cherry on top of the evening was awarding one of our loyal customers with an autographed baseball from Rockies center fielder, Charlie Blackmon. Congratulations to Jared from Empire Lakewood Nissan!

We Will Never Forget

September 11th is a day that no American will ever forget. Over the last 14 years, our country has slowly gone back to our day to day lives, but every year we look back and remember those that lives were ended due to terrorism.

While this is not a day to celebrate, there are several ways to commemorate and honor the lives we lost. One way is to perform acts of service in your community. Volunteering at a veteran’s hospital or homeless shelter is one small way to improve your neighborhood and remind those around you that this is still a great and caring country.

If you wish to make a direct contribution to those affected by the attacks, you can show your support by making a donation to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. You can make a onetime donation, become a member or volunteer at the site.

There is no way to take back the atrocities that occurred on this day, but moving forward and treating people with kindness year round is just one of many ways we show that we will never forget what happened.

Labor Day is a holiday that is very close to our hearts at Service Uniform. Our experience dates back to 1906 when our founders, Barry and David Putegnat’s grandparents first went into business. Working with laborers since the 1900’s has given our family owned business an appreciation for all that our workers do and the great challenges our country has overcome.

Labor Day falls on the first Monday in September, and is a celebration of the American laborer and all of their great achievements. It is a yearly national tribute to their contributions which we have been celebrating for 100 years.

Since our official opening in 1969, we have made it our mission to serve our community by offering, among other services, comfortable, well-designed uniforms ready to wear when your employees need them.
