Debunking 3 Myths About Uniforms

The stigma behind uniforms may deter you from seeing the benefits of such programs. Below are some common myths that surround work uniforms and how they can be proven wrong.

debunking 3 myths about uniforms via service uniform

  1. Uniforms mean a lack of individualism. Some people feel that wearing a uniform takes away the individual’s ability to express themselves. There are ways in which this can be true—if a uniform is uncomfortable or tight, or if the employee does not feel confident in the uniform, then the negative impacts of the uniform may end up affecting employees more than the positive ones.
At Service Uniform we believe in providing uniforms that will do just the opposite: uniforms can help employees feel more part of a community and connect them in a personal way to the company brand, if the uniform is comfortable, appropriate and practical. We know that uniforms can positively benefit the workplace and we are dedicated to providing uniforms that boost morale.

  1. Uniforms mean a lack of creativity. It is absolutely true that clothing gives people a way to express themselves. What we wear is a huge part of who we are. But it is actually this fact that gives companies a good reason to consider uniforms. It is so much easier to wake up in the morning knowing what you are going to put on, and knowing for a fact that it is going to be comfortable and work well for you in your specific work environment. Uniforms don’t have to mean telling people exactly what to wear; they can be extremely helpful when it comes to ease of physical movement and mental focus. Wearing uniforms means that employees won’t be distracted by alternating clothing that hasn’t been worn in their work situation before. Tried-and-true uniforms can actually encourage creativity by allowing employees to focus on their task rather than on their wardrobe. This kind of focus is what enables the best and most creative work.

  1. Uniforms mean your company won’t stand out. On the contrary, the ideal uniform will represent your company and your values in a way that casual clothing can’t. Your employees will stand out as professional and effective when they are wearing clean, comfortable uniforms that aid them in their jobs every day. At Service Uniform it is integrated into our work to keep the uniforms of your employees clean, free of rips and tears, and comfortable to wear. And they will always arrive back to you on time: your employees need never be without clean uniforms, eliminating the stress of “What should I wear?” every single morning and ensuring that their appearance will help customers identify your business. Let uniforms represent your brand and keep your image sharp and professional!

Not only are all these myths busted, but it’s clear that uniforms can actually help your business! A study conducted by J.D. Power and Associates showed that both consumers and business people prefer to see uniformed employees at the companies they deal with. Uniforms for Every Office

There are uniforms available for almost every person in your office, whether they are front-of-house or back-of-house. We work with many automotive garages, providing uniforms for both their workers and receptionists. There are uniforms for hostesses, managers, and servers alike (and our materials and services allow these uniforms to remain clean and wrinkle-free!).

A clean, comfortable and professional uniform can make all the difference when making a sale in a retail setting or providing a service like HVAC. Employees in manufacturing and industries where it is important to remain safe will feel good in customized uniforms. A practical uniform generates trust between you and your employees, as well as between you and your customers.

Uniforms are an important and practical part of a variety of industries, showing pride and professionalism. With Service Uniform you can meet your company’s uniform needs no matter the industry or position.

Clean Your Refrigerator Day

One of these most dreaded office activities is cleaning out the break room refrigerator. You’ll be surprised at how much these tips can ease the process!

Take care of the inside first. Don’t be afraid to throw away old food, and wash dirty containers immediately. Recycle glass and plastic that you don’t want to keep. If there are removable parts, remove them and wash them, too. Scrub them in the sink like you would with dirty dishes. It’s much easier than trying to clean them with paper towels.

Use cleaning spray and towels to thoroughly wipe down the inside walls and shelves of the refrigerator as well as the outside door and handle. Contact us to learn more about our towel service.

It is helpful to dust underneath the refrigerator. Try using a coil brush for this. If you’re feeling determined, move the refrigerator and vacuum underneath it. You will be grateful you did. Try placing an open box of baking soda in the back of the refrigerator to ward off any more smells.

This last tip is possibly the most important, and the hardest to do: Clean the refrigerator more thoroughly, more often. You will begin to feel good about using and cleaning it instead of experiencing that all-too-familiar dread!

Damage Waiver for Pennies?!

Depending on the industry, uniforms go through a lot of wear and tear. It is important that your employees constantly look their best, as they are representing your company’s brand.

At Service Uniform, we will repair any damages due to regular wear and tear. If anything outside of normal wear and tear happens to the uniform, our damages waiver would cost just pennies per garment per week!

Uniform damages happen all the time:

  • Oil and grease will stain a mechanic’s uniform for good.
  • Employees in forestry and agriculture find their uniforms damaged by high-soil environments.
  • In manufacturing environments it is not uncommon for uniforms to get dirty and ripped on the job.

With Service Uniform, you can expect timely and accurate repairs on all uniforms. Whether your employees are constructing infrastructure or working the front-of-house, our damage waiver guarantees that they will consistently have access to clean, damage-free uniforms—at the cost of a few pennies!
